FSFLA's Anti-DRM logo v1.1 by Alfredo Daniel Rezinovsky
Robert Hernandez from Sony DADC (the makers/owners of SecuROM) has contacted Reclaim Your Game and requested an interview for the "opportunity to answer some of the claims made on [the] site."

For those that don't want to read a whole article before finding out where they can spam suggest their insightful questions, I'll cut to the chase before telling the whole story. Firstly, RYG have laid some ground rules.

We are looking for QUESTIONS here, NOT rants, NOT opinions, NOT pointless rage. Keep it clean, keep it free of emotion, keep it free of opinion. Just ask questions. We don't know how many will be sent in the end, but this is your chance to ask.

There is also a deadline.

One more thing, we need the questions by Friday, so no dithering around.

So go forth! Submit your brilliant questions for Sony DADC regarding SecuROM by Friday (12 June 2009, no timezone specified, so go with GMT/UTC+0 for safety) to Reclaim Your game. In this thread. Alternatively post them in the comments here and I'll roll them up and send them to RYG before Friday.

Alright, now that the short and sweet is out the way, those of you that want more substance shall have it. RYG sent out the following mail about 12 hours ago (at the time of posting).

Most of the people on RYG/Prism have had something they've dreamed of seeing...you know, ASIDE from various people naked. Yes, most of us have wished to actually have the chance to speak with Sony DADC about SecuROM, to ask questions and discuss concerns and actually interact with them. Well, RYG has received an email :

This is an enquiry e-mail via http://www.reclaimyourgame.com/ from:
Robert Hernandez <Sony DADC>

Hello,

Would RYG be willing to interview us about SecuROM?  We'd love to have an opportunity to answer some of the claims made on your site, such as SecuROM using Ring 0 drivers (which it doesn't).

Thanks,
Bob

What's tickled many of the people on RYG pink is the fact that SecuROM doesn't use Ring-0 drivers. Naturally the first question has been "HOW?!" How does SecuROM black list legitimate imaging and virtual drive software (i.e. Alcohol); how does it prevent an Administrator user account from modifying or deleting it's resources (files, registry keys) without running agents/drivers with kernel-level priveleges?

Not that it matters in the end, of course. Regardless of whatever neat programming tricks they use, what we gamers want is uninhibited use of our license. We want to be able to make the single legit backup copy we are entitled to. We want to be able to install, run, uninstall, re-install and re-patch our games without asking a developer, publisher, or third party "security" provider permission to do so.

For those with reservations regarding the legitimacy of the mail, the guys over at RYG have verified it and it seems to check out.

The mailer is legit. Sony DADC has come to the table. So, we're looking for questions from you guys. What would you like to ask them in what will (hopefully) be as fruitful discussion as our ongoing conversation with Jan from Byteshield has been?

Only one question remains: If you could ask Sony DADC anything regarding SecuROM, what would it be?

This is the question comment thread. If you want to post a question here rather than on the RYG's P.R.I.S.M. forums please reply to this comment (don't click Quote, click Post Reply on this comment). That'll make it a whole lot simpler for me to find the questions when I need to roll them up later.
