This is, in no way to say that I am better than or not fond of everything I have found online. More accurately, it is to say that it gives me too much of a free pass in neglecting the relationships and goals that stand in front of me.
To all of the amazing Gameriot writers and publishers, I promise I will follow you and support you quietly. You are dear to me in ways you do not know, and you have given me a great deal of faith in this big world. I am not great at giving anyone as much attention as they deserve, but understand you have had a big hand in restoring my old self.
Sol, Flower Chucker, Ag, Proj, Idol, Heretica, Dizko, Slapnuts, Cue, Benks, Vir, Cleric, Extremist, Lonethar and a hundred others--thank you, thank you. You are so talented and so inspiring. Thanks also to the amazing graphics team at GR--every new set of images was like a little chest of gifts.
Most importantly, I wanted to say thank you to my darling Evan--who reads all my silly posts, listens to all of my silly dreams, and laughs at all my silly looks. Five playful, dynamic, beautiful years are a great start, and although, as my readers will note, I am too opinionated, too fragile, and far too mercurial, you still smile at me, treat me to bubble tea, and never complain when I scream along to the Pixies.
Please all do keep writing and reading at Hellforge. It's growing every day because of hard work and total collaboration. Keep challenging one another, trying harder, and enjoying it all. Games are fun, but not as fun as all of you.
With the absolute best wishes,
Snail

If anyone ever asks for a short version of why you're leaving I'll just insist on pointing them over to this long, and very eloquently written article. My words could not do it justice and your company has, as always, been a pleasure for all of us at GameRiot.

...What?
I don't even know what to say. This is really just unexpected. I just cannot press the Like button to this, because I don't like it one bit. You're an excellent writer, Snail, and I don't mean that as a compliment through a mask; I genuinely mean that. Hellforge, in part, grew because of your writing. Hell, it eventually even expanded into its own portal here. And I mean we've all been really supportive of you. Sure, there's a couple of douchebags in the comments here and now, but the Internet is full of ********; we're bound to run across them often. I know I do.
But I suppose you have your reasons...even if I don't understand them. But I would be lying if I said I supported them. We all welcome you here with open arms because you really are great, so, you know, when ever you're ready to come back, that would be great, because we're all going to miss the **** out of you.

There's no such thing as being too opinionated. Just look at Agamemnon.

What a pity, I don't know you really well, but your articles are amazing, as Sol mentioned you're a very well writer.
Anyway, I wish you the very best for everything you're going to do!

An explanation that seems too unusual to be practical, yet regretful nonetheless.
Bye-bye Snail. Enjoy your future, only you can determine it.

Snail, I'm amazed at how much this goodbye letter mimics too many of my own goodbye letters from the past year. I probably understand more than anyone, how you feel and why you need to go. But I will not pretend that it isn't breaking my heart right now.
You are an inspiration and a ray of sunshine that shined so bright it called to me. I was welcomed home here, and for that I will always be grateful.
I urge you, Nichole, to take full advantage of what you are doing now. You deserve a rich, joyous, and fulfilling life - don't settle for anything less. And always know that you have a home with us.
Bon voyage, friend.
